Google announced in 2007 their intention to build a data center here. Plans were put on hold, however, during the economic downturn in 2008. Google decided they had sufficient data center capacity for the time being. In 2010 they decided to go ahead and it became operational by the end of 2011. There are plans to double the size of the data center with construction continuing throughout 2012. The expansion will likely be operational by early 2013. By zooming out on the satellite image it looks clear that the second building will be the same size as the first.
